Deborah Stafford has been a staple of the Colorado Blues scene for many years. But in 2021, she put together the dream team. They have been "Stalkin' the Blues" ever since. Experience the power of an 8-piece horn-driven Blues, Roots and Soul band! Deborah & The Night Stalkers' original grooves will get you shakin' it!  Memorable songwriting sprinkled with favorites from artists like Al Green, Etta James, Ray Charles, Amy Winehouse and Ray LaMontagne, they mix the best of blues with funk and soul. From Beale Street to Boulder, this band is a party!

 

Their award-winning horn section, masterful guitar by Jeff Bowen, soulful keyboards by Tone Show, and seasoned vocals by band leader Deborah Stafford all take this band to the next level. Not long after their creation the band made it to the semi-finals of the International Blues Challenge in Memphis and opened The (now defunct) Trinidaddio Blues Festival to rave reviews. In 2023, they won the CBS Blues Challenge for the second year in a row and went to Memphis to represent Colorado again, concurrently performing at the Women in Blues Showcase at Alfred's on Beale Street. 2023 saw them back in Colorado headlining Blues on the Mesa, and Red, White and Blues, and by 2024 they were headlining crowded Boulder festivals like Rock & Rails and Louisville Street Faire among their other shows. In 2024 Deborah also introduced The Night Stalkers' Etta James Tribute, a popular trip through her music and life. They often perform it to sold out crowds at Dazzle Denver. Deborah was honored to open for Buddy Guy and has shared the stage with Hamilton Loomis.

 

Deborah's songwriting with Dave "Doc" Dougherty, and Jim DeSchamp has created many memorable songs and she relies on Doug Rasmussen, the leader of her horn section and arranger to make that world-class horn sound. Deborah continues to make her mark as a singer and songwriter with heartfelt lyrics and songs you walk out humming. She was nominated for "favorite songwriter" at the Colorado Blues Society Member's Choice Awards in 2026.
